What is Waybook: SOP software that also trains staff
Waybook is software that keeps a company's SOPs, policies and how-tos in one searchable place, then trains staff on them with tests, learning paths and completion tracking. It is made by Waybook Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, and it sells in US dollars. Core is $99 a month billed annually for 20 members, plus $5 for each extra member, or $119 billed monthly plus $6, as read on October 17, 2026.
| Waybook term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Subject, Document, Step | A team or area, one activity in it, one stage of it |
| Learning Path | An ordered set of Documents and Tasks for a role or topic |
| Tests | Steps inside a Document; eight question types |
| Member | Anyone with a login, readers included; the price counts members |
| Waybook AI Ask | AI answers drawn from published Documents |
| Mobile app | iOS and Android; search and Ask work in the app |
Waybook's home page lists six uses: SOPs, employee onboarding, compliance training, employee training, knowledge base and process documentation. For SOPs, Waybook has an SOP document type among five (General, SOP, Procedure, Policy and Resource), and its AI Content Writer can draft a first version. Waybook review covers the plans in detail.

Start a 7-day Waybook trial →Subjects, Documents and Steps
A Subject is a team or area of the business, a Document is one activity inside it, and a Step is one stage of that activity. All three are unlimited on every plan. A Step can hold video, images, checklists and PDFs, and Waybook imports Word, PDF, PowerPoint and Markdown files (help center).
Tests, learning paths and completion tracking
Every plan includes tests, which are steps inside a Document, and Learning Paths, which order Documents and Tasks for a role or topic. Waybook tracks progress and completion by member and group. Waybook's pricing page offers a 7-day free trial, so Subjects, tests and learning paths can be looked at before paying.
Pro adds Document Verification with Review Dates, which asks an assigned reviewer to re-check a Document, and Knowledge Confirmation Steps, which record who confirmed a Document and when.
Search, Ask, the mobile app and public links
Search is fuzzy and reads titles and the content inside steps, but it cannot read words inside an embedded file. The mobile app is on iOS and Android, and search and Ask work in it; its pages say nothing about offline use. Readers see only the content they have been given.
Waybook includes AI Ask in every plan but says it runs on monthly credits, which Pro raises; it publishes no credit count.
A Document can be shared by public link or embedded as an iframe, but public sharing is read-only and has no tracking. Waybook counts its integrations as 1,000+ in one article and 3,000+ in another, and names Slack, Microsoft Teams and Zapier.
When Scribe or Notion fits better than Waybook
Pick Scribe when you only need guides captured from a browser: Scribe Basic is free and generates how-to guides, and its plan cards list no quiz or test. Waybook vs Scribe compares the two. Pick Notion for a general workspace with a free plan; its Plus plan is $10 per member per month billed yearly or $12 billed monthly.
Waybook documents no SCORM import or export, so a team that must load courses into another learning system needs a different tool. Waybook pricing lists what each Waybook plan adds.
