Mini Course Generator alternatives: six tools checked on their own pricing pages

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerThe closest alternatives are 7taps and TalentCards for staff microlearning, and Teachable, Podia and LearnWorlds for selling courses. Coassemble suits teams building training into their own product.

Six Mini Course Generator alternatives and their entry prices

The alternatives to Mini Course Generator fall into three groups: microlearning tools for staff (7taps, TalentCards), course-selling platforms (Teachable, Podia, LearnWorlds) and an API-first learning platform (Coassemble). For reference, Mini Course Generator Plus costs $49 a month billed monthly or $39 a month billed annually, with 500 learners a year.

What each alternative is built for, and one limit

  • 7taps is a microlearning platform for workplace training, with delivery by link, QR code, email, Slack and Microsoft Teams. Limit: the Free plan shares only two courses, and the next step is $4,995 a year.
  • TalentCards delivers card-based lessons through a mobile app for staff who are not at a desk. Limit: learners need the app, and paid plans start at 50 users.
  • Teachable is a course-selling platform with student apps, tax handling and checkout. Limit: Starter allows 5 published products and adds a 7.5% transaction fee.
  • Podia combines courses, downloads, community, email and a website. Limit: Mover adds a 5% fee and caps email subscribers at 100.
  • LearnWorlds is a course platform with an AI course builder and 1,000 active learners a month on Starter. Limit: Starter charges $5 for each paid enrollment and has one admin.
  • Coassemble is aimed at teams that embed learning in their own product through an API. Limit: the entry price is far above a creator tool, with a 12-month agreement.

Where Mini Course Generator still fits best

Against this list, Mini Course Generator is the option for short, link-shared lessons built quickly from a document, with unlimited courses and no fee on sales. Plus includes a custom domain; Pro adds certificates and invitation-only access at $99 monthly or $79 billed annually. The vendor's pages disagree on export plans: the pricing page lists PDF export on Plus and Dynamic SCORM export on Pro, while a help article says PDF needs Pro and SCORM needs a plan called Elite. The plan-by-plan detail is in Mini Course Generator features.

It fits less well when you need more than 1,000 learners a year on a self-serve plan, single sign-on, or a native mobile app. The first two sit with its Enterprise offer, which has no public price in the page text I read.

Which alternative to choose by buyer type

  • Training frontline staff on phones, with a small group to start: TalentCards, free for up to 5 users.
  • An L&D team that wants Slack and Teams delivery and has budget: 7taps Starter. Details are in Mini Course Generator vs 7taps.
  • Selling several courses with built-in tax handling: Teachable, compared in Mini Course Generator vs Teachable.
  • One creator who also wants a website, email list and downloads in one bill: Podia.
  • A paid-course school with many active learners and few paid enrollments: LearnWorlds Starter.
  • A software company putting lessons inside its own app: Coassemble.
  • A small team turning written procedures into short practice lessons: Mini Course Generator Plus.

Why Thinkific is left out of the table

Thinkific is a common comparison, but its pricing page served prices in euros when I read it, so no dollar figure appears here. Its plans and limits are covered in Mini Course Generator vs Thinkific.
