Mini Course Generator vs 7taps: prices, limits and who each one suits

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-03

Quick answerMini Course Generator is the lower-cost paid option: Plus is $39 a month billed annually against $4,995 a year for 7taps Starter. 7taps has a free plan and Slack and Teams delivery.

Mini Course Generator vs 7taps on entry price

Mini Course Generator costs far less than 7taps once you need a paid plan, while 7taps is the one with a permanent free plan. 7taps here means the microlearning platform at 7taps.com, run by 7taps OpCo LLC of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Mini Course Generator Plus is $49 a month billed monthly, or $39 a month billed annually, which is $468 for the year. 7taps lists a Free plan at $0, a Starter plan at $4,995 per year sold through its sales team, and an Enterprise plan by quote. Its pricing page shows no monthly price for Starter. All figures as read on 3 October 2026.

So the gap at the first paid tier is $4,995 minus $468, or $4,527 a year. Even Mini Course Generator Pro on annual billing, $79 a month or $948 a year, is $4,047 below 7taps Starter.

Both tools list AI course creation and quizzes on every plan. SCORM export is not on the entry paid plan of either tool, and 7taps keeps it for Enterprise. For Mini Course Generator the vendor's pages disagree on export plans: the pricing page lists PDF export on Plus and Dynamic SCORM export on Pro, while a help article says PDF needs Pro and SCORM needs a plan called Elite.

One thing each does that the other does not

7taps: a free plan with no time limit. You can build unlimited courses and share two of them by link or QR code without paying. Its paid plans also deliver lessons as messages in Slack and Microsoft Teams, and Enterprise adds SMS, WhatsApp and kiosk mode. Mini Course Generator's pricing page lists none of those channels and has no permanent free plan.

Mini Course Generator: selling access. Both creator plans can put a course behind a payment wall, and the vendor says it takes no fee on those sales. The 7taps pricing page lists no payment feature. Mini Course Generator also includes a custom domain on its cheapest plan, where 7taps reserves it for Enterprise.

Who each tool suits

Choose Mini Course Generator if you are a small team or solo trainer with a budget in the hundreds of dollars a year, you share lessons by link, and 500 to 1,000 learners a year is enough. It is also the pick if you want to charge for a course. What that plan costs over a year is worked through on the cost page.

Choose 7taps if two shared courses are enough for now, since Free costs nothing, or if you run training for a company that lives in Slack or Teams and can justify $4,995 a year for reminders, learner management and basic analytics. For single sign-on, 7taps Enterprise and Mini Course Generator Enterprise are both quote-only.

If neither fits, the wider list is in Mini Course Generator alternatives.

What switching between them involves

There is no direct import between the two in the pages I read. Moving from 7taps to Mini Course Generator means rebuilding lessons, because 7taps keeps SCORM and PDF export for Enterprise. If you do have a SCORM package, Mini Course Generator lists SCORM upload on both plans, and its AI builder can draft from a PDF of up to 100 pages.

Moving the other way, you can export each mini-course to PDF, on whichever plan turns out to include it, and feed it to the 7taps content converter, which its site says accepts PDFs and PowerPoints. Check the result page by page: Mini Course Generator's help center notes that PDF exports leave out videos, GIFs and some interactive items. Learner results do not move either way, so download your reports before you cancel. 7taps also warns that if you cancel and take a first-month refund, the account is deactivated and you lose access to the courses you created.

Before either move, a short pilot with acceptance criteria is cheaper than a year of the wrong tool.
