Public link, embed or invitation: choose the access boundary first

Last materially reviewed 2026-10-02

Quick answerChoose sharing according to the material and audience; an unlisted link is not the same as verified restricted access.
What to know

Classify the material before sharing

Public examples, routine internal instructions and confidential operating records do not deserve the same default. Our site uses fictional public material. For your own organization, follow its actual information-handling rules and approved services. Do not upload a private procedure merely because an authoring product offers a convenient public link or no-card trial. This page is a planning guide, not a security assessment.

What to know

Distinguish delivery from permission

A link can make content easy to reach; an embed can place it inside another page. Neither fact alone proves who can view it, whether a forwarded address works or what data the host receives. Mini Course Generator’s current table places invitation-only access in Pro. Verify the exact learner experience and your required access conditions rather than treating the plan label as sufficient evidence.

What to know

Check the surrounding page

An embedded lesson depends on both the host page and the lesson provider. Inspect navigation, mobile size, relevant notices and what happens if one part fails to load. Avoid hiding the only explanation inside a widget that some readers cannot use. Keep an appropriate fallback or help route, and do not claim that a surrounding login automatically restricts a separately public lesson URL.

What to know

Recheck after a revision

Determine whether a changed lesson updates the same address, creates a new version or affects completion records. Verify old bookmarks and embedded locations before withdrawing the previous material. Use the revision-impact map to identify where the lesson is exposed. Access, content version and learner reporting are separate facts; a successful share action does not establish all three.

What to know

A useful access question

Can the intended recipient reach the lesson through the intended route, and can an unintended recipient reach it through a copied address? Use only authorized test identities and approved material in a real evaluation. A product label alone does not answer either question.
