On Teachable a product is any published course, coaching offer or digital download. Drafts, memberships and bundles do not count toward the limit.

One thing each does that the other does not

Teachable: selling infrastructure. Every plan lists iOS and Android student apps, global payments with US sales tax, VAT and GST handling, upsells and abandoned-cart recovery. Mini Course Generator offers a payment wall through a payment gateway, and its pricing page lists no tax handling or mobile apps.

Mini Course Generator: lessons without accounts or checkout. A course can be open to anyone with the link, gated by a password, or gated by email verification. That suits internal training, where the learner is a colleague and not a customer. Teachable's pricing page describes students enrolling through its checkout.

Who each one suits

Choose Teachable if you sell courses to the public, expect many students, and want tax and checkout handled for you. If you publish more than 5 products you need Builder, and certificates need Growth.

Choose Mini Course Generator if your lessons are short, your audience is staff, partners or a small customer group, and you need no more than 500 learners a year on Plus or 1,000 on Pro. It is also the cheaper route to certificates: Pro at $99 monthly against Teachable Growth at $189 monthly. What happens near the learner cap is covered in learner capacity, and the yearly totals in Mini Course Generator cost.

If you want a third option with a website and email list in the same bill, Podia is listed in Mini Course Generator alternatives.

What switching between them involves

Neither pricing page describes an import from the other tool, so plan to rebuild lesson by lesson. From Mini Course Generator, export each course to PDF to get the text, and download each course report as an .xls file for your records. The help center notes that PDF exports omit videos, GIFs and some interactive blocks. The vendor's pages disagree on export plans: the pricing page lists PDF export on Plus and Dynamic SCORM export on Pro, while a help article says PDF needs Pro and SCORM needs a plan called Elite.

From Teachable, lessons built on long videos need care, because Mini Course Generator limits each uploaded video to an MP4 of 100 MB. Longer videos can be embedded from YouTube or Vimeo. The Teachable Growth plan lists imported students, which helps when you bring a learner list across. Progress and certificates do not move in either direction.

Cancel the old tool only after the new lessons are live and your reports are saved. Teachable plans renew automatically until canceled, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle.
